FAQ
Who is Val and what is Val's Tools?
Val's Tools is an automotive and mechanic tool shop built around hands-on reviews rather than catalogue listings. Val tests tools in a working shop and stocks the ones worth owning, which is why the range is deliberately narrower than a big-box retailer's. The audience grew out of that: people who wanted to know which tool actually holds up, not which one has the biggest marketing budget.
What brands does Val's Tools carry?
The range covers diagnostics from Autel and Topdon, cordless power tools from Milwaukee and DeWalt, fastener specialists like GripEdge, and hand tool brands including Knipex, GearWrench, Mayhew, VIM, Astro Pneumatic, Grey Pneumatic and Koken. Rather than carrying everything, the store stocks selected lines from each brand, chosen around automotive and shop work.
What kind of tools should I buy first for working on cars?
Start with the tools you will touch on every job: a 3/8 inch drive socket set, a decent ratchet, a set of combination wrenches and a basic code reader. Add a 1/2 inch impact wrench next, since wheels and suspension work are where hand tools cost you the most time. Build out from there based on the work you actually do, rather than buying a large kit full of sizes you will never reach for.
Does Val's Tools help you choose between tools?
Yes. That is the point of the shop. The category pages explain the differences that matter, like impact versus chrome sockets or which diagnostic tier fits your work, and the team can give a direct recommendation if you are weighing two specific tools. If you tell them the work you do and your budget, you will get an opinion rather than a list.
How fast does Val's Tools ship?
Orders are processed and shipped quickly, with tracking provided once a package leaves. If you need an item urgently or want to confirm stock on a specific model before ordering, contact the shop directly and the team will check availability and give you an accurate timeline.
